The idea behind

Innovative across the board

The Medisch Spectrum Twente (MST) is one of the largest clinical teaching hospitals. Around 3,500 employees are dedicated to promoting health in the Twente region in close cooperation with regional partners in the healthcare sector. The main location in Enschede is a modern hospital. Technological innovation, efficiency and sustainability are aspects that play a major role in MST on a daily basis, and not only in the medical field. In 2020, the car park at the Enschede site was converted to connected lighting. This means that precisely these aspects can be ensured in the area of lighting. Both the car parks and the stairwells were equipped with STEINEL lights that come on precisely when they are needed. Measurements showed that the previous 24-hour lighting was on for 7,368 unnecessary hours over a period of one year – an extraordinary number that had to be reduced as quickly as possible. By converting to connected lighting, MST has taken an important step towards minimising energy costs while also ensuring that visitors feel safe.

Pioneering technology

connected lighting

With connected lighting, sensor-controlled LED lights can only be switched on when they are needed thanks to local light and presence sensors and Bluetooth networking. This saves energy, reduces electricity costs and lowers CO2 emissions.

Can be set using the app

Easy assembly and installation

All the lights are conveniently started up and adjusted by the STEINEL Connect app. Practical: the lights can be mounted in existing drill holes.

R series

4 light functions

The warm white light of the R series creates a pleasant atmosphere. This is ensured by the various light modes: basic and main light, which are dimmable from 1-100%, as well as additional background lighting. In the event of a power failure, the optional battery emergency light module reliably provides sufficient light.

Bluetooth Mesh - future-oriented technology

The new Bluetooth Mesh technology opens up a whole new range of networking possibilities. The Bluetooth technology we use meets the requirements of the Bluetooth SIG standard and is therefore future-proof.

potential savings

With the RS PRO 5100 SC, a huge amount of CO2 can be saved compared to a T5 light source, which in turn leads to cost savings of over €100 per light fitting.

Particularly in view of the ban on T5 lamps from September 2023, everyone should be looking into the issue of conversion. Connected Lighting is the solution for not only converting, but also maximising savings potential.
