Plus-Energy-House, Berlin
The German government's Plus-Energy House offers a pioneering solution for energy-efficient and climate-neutral living without loss of comfort by combining construction and electric mobility. In this concept, STEINEL presence detectors are used to control the lighting. A total of 13 STEINEL Presence Control PRO IR Quattro presence detectors control the lighting in this building. As a professional device with 13 detection levels and 1,760 switching zones, it reliably responds to the slightest movement in the room.

"I was impressed by the interplay between innovative architecture and energy-efficient technology. This is how I imagine living in the future."
Petra Michaely from the planning team
innovative lighting control
STEINEL's innovative presence detectors provide automatic, sensor-switched lighting in the Plus-Energy House. The IR Quattro from the Control PRO range of presence detectors was selected for the project. Its detection properties and high-resolution sensor system enable it to detect even the smallest movements reliably and with absolute precision. The light in a particular area only switches on automatically when the detector recognises that it is being used by the residents of the house and that light is actually needed.
Passive infrared for motion detection
The IR Quattro uses passive infrared technology to detect when a room is in use. It picks up the heat radiated by the human body, converts it into a switching signal and switches on the light.
The detection area corresponds to the typical room shape
The highly attentive sensor system of the IR Quattro provides a detection zone of 16 square metres and even detects when someone is typing on a keyboard. Like all STEINEL IR Quattro models, the IR Quattro also has a square lens. This provides a detection zone of a typical room shape so that absolutely nothing is overlooked. Every centimetre of a room is covered without leaving a single blind spot. The patented mechanical adjustability of the reach without loss of quality is completely new. This means that the IR Quattro can be adapted to the particular situation at the point of use.
Flexibility in building automation
Like all presence detectors in the Control PRO range, the IR Quattro is available with all common interfaces such as KNX or DALI. This makes it easy to integrate into a central building control system.
