Lycée Sud Loire school building, Clisson
An intelligent light control system from STEINEL provides efficient lighting in the ultra-modern energy-plus building of the new grammar school in Clisson, France. As a leader in innovation and technology in the field of intelligent light control, STEINEL offers the right sensor for every application. Careful planning in collaboration with the project department of STEINEL France led to a perfect result that everyone involved was happy with. In the classrooms, large halls, conference rooms and toilets, presence detectors were chosen that pick up even the slightest movement. By contrast, smaller rooms were equipped with motion detectors.

"The sensors from STEINEL work perfectly. The light is only ever on when it is actually needed. Otherwise it stays off. That makes us feel good."
Romuald Pannetier, project manager
The right sensor for every room
As a leader in innovation and technology in the field of intelligent light control, STEINEL offers the right sensor for everyapplication. This ensures that the customer always gets the best solution. After a phase of careful planning, actively supported by the STEINEL France project department, everyone agreed on the result:The IR Quattro DIM presence detector was selected to pick up even the slightest movement in the classrooms. In the larger halls and conference rooms, the planners decided on the IR Quattro HD DIM high-resolution presence detector, which can detect the presence of people over an area of 64 square metres per sensor. The IS D 360 motion detector was used in the smaller rooms, with the IS 2180-5 used in the stairwell. The HF 360 motion detector was chosen for the toilet facilities because of the particular advantages of high-frequency technology.
Constant light control via DIM interface
Constant light control means that the sensor ensures that there is only ever as much light in the room as the light intensity setting specifies. If there is sufficient daylight, no artificial light is switched on. If the amount of light falls below the set level, the sensor automatically switches on artificial light when motion is detected.
Only as much artificial light is added as is necessary to achieve the desired light level – and no more.
Presence detectors from STEINEL provide a square detection zone.
The square detection zone is a key feature of the IR Quattro series from STEINEL. Conventional detectors have a circular detection zone. This can lead to blind spots. IR Quattro presence detectors with their square lens provide non-overlapping, uninterrupted coverage of rooms. The patented mechanical adjustability of the reach without loss of quality is unrivalled.
active motion detection
The high-frequency technology invented by STEINEL is capable of detecting movement even behind thin walls made of wood or plasterboard. This is why HF-360 sensors were installed in the school's toilet facilities. Although the sensor is located in the washroom, it is also able to detect people in each of the toilet cubicles.
