The idea behind
Wöhrl underground car park, Nuremberg
The Wöhrl department store in Nuremberg is pleased to welcome numerous visitors from Monday to Saturday. The shops have been renovated so that they not only have a unique shopping experience, but also one that is as CO2 neutral as possible. The associated underground car park was also converted during the renovation work. Instead of dim 24-hour lighting, STEINEL's Connected Lighting System is now installed and provides visitors in the corridors, stairwells and underground car park with optimal light, but only when it is needed. Connected Lighting links all the lights with each other via Bluetooth Mesh, enabling the different areas to be gradually dimmed up so that no customer has to walk into a dark area. The new lighting system combines maximum energy efficiency and maximum convenience.
- Client: TETRIS Grundbesitz AG
- Location: Wöhrl department store, Nuremberg
- Building status: in operation since the early 1970s
- Converted to STEINEL Connected Lighting: 2022/2023
- Installed: 725 x 5100 series, R series
- Services: Hardware and services

"The advantages of the conversion for us were the simple installation, the through-wiring in the luminaires and the fact that the cabling could be taken over 1 to 1. This meant that we did not have to do a lot of rewiring."

All the benefits at a glance

All-round. All-round efficiency.
By using the R series in corridors and stairwells, an overall solution was found to make the route between the shops and the parked car comfortable, visitor-friendly and, in addition, as environmentally friendly as possible.

Potential savings with added comfort.
The app-controlled RS PRO 5100 is both economical and sustainable. It features an impressive 360-degree high-frequency sensor, a long-lasting 30-watt LED lighting system and Bluetooth wireless connectivity.

Bluetooth Mesh - future-oriented technology
The new Bluetooth Mesh technology opens up a whole new range of networking possibilities. The Bluetooth technology we use meets the requirements of the Bluetooth SIG standard and is therefore future-proof.
Annual CO2 savings compared to a conventional T8 fluorescent tube
Installed luminaires from the 5100 series and the R series
Continuous lighting is a thing of the past – light only comes on when it is needed.

potential savings
With the RS PRO 5100 SC, a huge amount of CO2 can be saved compared to a T5 light source, which in turn leads to cost savings of over €100 per light fitting.
Particularly in view of the ban on T5 lamps from September 2023, everyone should be looking into the issue of conversion. Connected Lighting is the solution for not only converting, but also maximising savings potential.
