STEINEL lighting solutions in the Parque Europa car park, Leiria, Portugal

Bright, safe and maximising energy savings – these were the aspects that were given special consideration when planning the lighting for the new three-storey Parque Europa car park in the centre of Leiria, Portugal. The issue of ecological sustainability was extremely important and it quickly became clear to the planning office that the energy targets could only be achieved with the STEINEL Connected Lighting solution. The Bluetooth mesh-based lighting solution is used in both the RS PRO 5100 linear luminaire and the R-Series wall and ceiling luminaires. On the parking areas, the 5100 with advance light and STEINEL swarm intelligence ensures needs-based switching and a feeling of safety with minimal energy consumption. The highlight is the cross-product network with the R-Series lights in the stairwell and on the outside of the car park. Here too, the intelligent light control system provides bright light and gives users a sense of security. As a welcome side-effect, our lighting solutions not only provide better light, more brightness and greater convenience, they also reduce operating costs by up to 80%.

The European Union has set itself the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55 per cent by 2030 compared to 1990. Portugal also shares this ambitious goal. The Parque Europa car park proves that climate targets can be met while also providing people with greater comfort and safety. Car parking

There are 155 parking spaces in the 3-level underground car park. The levels are connected by 3 well-lit stairwells.

Equipped for any emergency

We all hope that this will never be the case. In the event of a power outage, the RS PRO R10 luminaires in the stairwell switch on an LED emergency light (107 lm) for three hours in accordance with EN 60598-2-22. This ensures quick and safe orientation in an emergency.

Easy networking and operation via app

To light an area as extensive as the parking level of an underground car park, it makes sense to form groups of lights. With the RS PRO Connect 5100 LED, no additional cables need to be laid for this purpose. The lights are simply connected to each other via Bluetooth using the intuitive STEINEL app. For each of these light groups, it is necessary to define a group master in the app. All the lights in a group then work the way the group master is configured. Other light functions, such as the neighbourhood function, as well as light parameters such as twilight setting, basic light level, main light and time settings can also be easily selected via the app. Practical: All light functions and settings are conveniently selected from the ground using the app. No ladder is required.

Places of use of the products

R series in the stairwell

Based on Bluetooth mesh technology, the R-Series luminaires in the stairwells are networked with the car park lighting – without any additional cables. The architects and lighting designers also used the R-Series for the façade.

5100 series in the car parks

On the car parks, the Bluetooth mesh-connected RS 5100 SC with pre-running light ensures demand-responsive switching and a sense of security with minimal energy consumption.

XLED PRO ONE for illumination

The large outdoor areas are illuminated by spotlights from the XLED PRO One series. These can be mounted up to 6 metres off the ground and provide daylight-quality illumination of large areas.
